Schzwan sauce is of chines origin from sichuan province in southwestern china. It is used in rice and noodle to spice up the dish.

This easy to make spicy schezwan sauce is used in most of the innovative dishes that are available. It is used to cook schezwan fried rice, schezwan noodle, and also used in pizzas, pasta, bread, spring rolls, momos, and a lot more. If we have this in our kitchen, some of the goto innovative dishes are made in minutes.

Originally sichuan pepper is used to make this sauce. But in this recipe, I have used black pepper powder. Sichuan pepper gives a unique flavor to the schezwan sauce. Use it if you can find some around your area.

How to make spicy schezwan sauce


Step 1:

To make schezwan sauce start with soaking 15 to 20 kashmiri chilli in a bowl of warm water. Soak for 30 minutes and grind it into a fine paste.

Add 2 to 3 tablespoon of water to the soaked red chilli and blend it to form a thick fine paste.



Step 2:

Next step is to cook the raw chilli paste. Heat the pan or kadai and add 4 tbsp of oil.

Add 1 tbsp ginger and 2 tbsp of garlic chopped. Saute for a few seconds and then add the blended chilli paste. Mix and saute for 2 to 3 minutes in medium flame.



Step 3:

Next, add vinegar 1 tbsp, soy sauce 1 tbsp, tomato sauce 1 tbsp, black pepper powder 1/2 tsp, sugar 1/2 tsp, salt 1 tsp to the mixture.

Mix all the ingredients and saute for a few seconds.



Step 4:

Finally, add 1/4 cup of water and cook in medium flame till the sauce thickens. Check if the sauce sticks to the spoon. If it does schezwan sauce is ready.

Ingredients

  • 20 Kashmiri chilli
  • 1 tbsp Ginger chopped
  • 2 tbsp Garlic chopped
  • 1 tbsp Vinegar
  • 1 tbsp Soy sauce
  • 1/2 tsp Black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp Sugar
  • 1 tbsp Tomato sauce
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1/4 Cup Water

Instructions

  • Kashmiri chilli paste – soak kashmiri chilli in warm water for 30 minutes and grind it into thick and fine paste.
  • Next, in a sauce pa add oil and add ginger and garlic. saute for a few seconds.
  • Now add the prepared paste and and saute for 2 to 3 minutes in medium flame.
  • After 3 minutes add soy sauce, vinigar, tomato sauce, pepper, sugar and salt. Mix and saute for few seconds.
  • Now add water and cook till the sauce thickens. Schezwan sauce is ready!
